About

Summa PLUS, Inc was founded in 2022 by Jerome L. Brown, a disabled Navy veteran and his wife of 38 years Andrea Byrd Brown. Jerome was a Hospital Corpsman and Andrea is a retired nurse with 39 years’ experience. Andrea has worked with veterans in various medical environments.

Jerome had been a functioning alcoholic his entire military career. In June of 2019 he woke up one day and said to himself, “I don’t want to wake up hungover anymore”! He has not had a drink of alcohol since. After being sober for 1 year Jerome wanted to help others with their walk-through recovery. Jerome and Andrea founded BONDAGE BREAKERS RECOVERY MINISTRY at their church offering recovery coaching for alcohol, substance misuse and trauma. While providing coaching Jerome and Andrea, also a mental health coach, were introduced to many unhoused veterans who needed coaching and much more. Jerome and Andrea decided that they wanted to do more to help Jerome’s fellow Veterans.

April 1st, 2023, Summa Plus, Inc was incorporated in the state of Florida. On April 25th, 2023, Summa Plus received their 501 c 3 tax exempt status.

Summa Plus, Inc’s primary goal is to identify housed and unhoused veterans through outreach and canvas.  We then assist the veteran with identifying needs related to health benefits enrollment, compensation claims, recovery services, mental health coaching and housing.  Once needs are identified we assist the veteran with the process to obtain the benefits they are entitled, to improve the veteran’s quality of life.
